Holywell
is an ideal centre from which to explore the surrounding countryside
and discover its attractions.
Within
a few miles of the town for instance, there are four golf courses,
horse riding and trekking facilities and, for the angler, there
are six stillwater trout or coarse fisheries as well as sea fishing
in the River Dee estuary.
For
walking enthusiasts there is Halkyn Common and a network of footpaths
and bridleways including the waymarked Pennant Walks to explore
while for the motorist, there are quiet country lanes linking
unspoiled villages and with breathtaking scenery around every
bend.
There
are also a number of other visitor attractions within easy reach
of the town.
In the hamlet of Llanerch-y-Mor on the banks of the River Dee
with its quaint thatched roof pub for instance, you will find
Abakhan Fabrics housed in an award winning restored mill with
its famous mill shop, while inland, at Afonwen in the picturesque
Wheeler Valley, is the Afonwen Craft & Antique Centre.
